    Etan Patz

In memory of Etan Patz, a 6-year-old boy, kidnapped in New York on May 25, 1979, which was never found, on May 25 was proclaimed in 1983 Children's Day Disappeared by the President of the United States. Since 1986, this day has acquired an international dimension at the initiative of Canada. In France, the International Day of Missing Children has been commemorated since 2003.This day is a message of solidarity and hope to the parents of missing or abducted children.

On January 13, 1996, nine-year-old Amber Rene Hagerman (November 25, 1986 – January 17, 1996) was abducted while riding her bike in Arlington, Texas. A neighbor who witnessed the abduction called the police, and Amber's brother Ricky went home to tell his mother and grandparents what happened.
